The Case Study

The work beneath a 17-plane roof

The homeowner called for a roof replacement in Salem. The measurement report described 2,151 square feet of roof across 17 planes, with steep main slopes and smaller sections at different pitches. The wood beneath the shingles also needed attention: plywood required replacement.

Plywood before the finished surface

The crew replaced plywood as part of the roof work. The progress photographs show exposed framing beside replacement sheets, followed by new plywood along a lower roof section. These views record a stage that the finished shingles would cover.

Different slopes, connected details

The report measured a predominant 12/12 pitch, with smaller 4/12 and 6/12 sections. It also recorded 71 linear feet of valleys and 114 linear feet of ridges and hips. These measurements helped describe the roof shape and plan materials; they did not establish the condition of concealed wood.

Ask what happens below the shingles

A roof replacement quote should explain how plywood repairs will be handled as well as which shingles will go on. In Salem, the crew replaced plywood before installing the new shingles. Ask what decking work is included, how additional sheets would be priced, and how you will be shown any concealed conditions before extra work proceeds.
